Zach Mager (New City/Clarkstown South) scored 21 points to lead four players in double figures, as SUNY Oneonta ran away from SUNY Cobleskill, 90-52, in the opening game of the 2014 Holiday Inn Classic hosted by Hartwick College. The Red Dragons led from wire-to-wire, as they move to 2-0 in the young season.

Mikey McElroy (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) scored 18 points while senior
Kareem Williams (Bronx/IN-Tech Academy) and junior
Jackson Zuvic (Cold Spring/Haldane) each added 11 points. In all, 12 players scored at least one point for Oneonta in the lopsided victory.

Oneonta shot 58 percent in the game and outrebounded the Tigers 46-29.

Oneonta opened the game with a 10-0 run and never looked back. Williams started the scoring with a layup on the opening possession while Mager capped the run with a shot from long distance. Mager was 7-of-12 from the field including 5-of-8 from behind the arc.

Oneonta collected 13 steals, led by junior
Jack Dignan (Brewster/Brewster)'s four thefts. The Red Dragons forced 18 turnovers that led to 26 points.

Oneonta will play Eastern Connecticut State tomorrow afternoon at 2pm in its final game of the two-day tournament.
