Cambridge, Mass. – The SUNY Oneonta volleyball squad travel to the campus of MIT to take part in the MIT Quad Tournament. The Red and White would finish 1-2 on the weekend, including a pair of five set thrillers.

Oneonta opened the weekend on Friday night against the host Engineers. The Red Dragons won the second and third sets 25-22, but dropped the first (17-25) and fourth (19-25) to force a fifth set tiebreak where they fell 7-15.
Paige Carpluk (Yaphank/Bellport) led the way for the Red and White attack with 11 kills, while adding 14 digs defensively. At the setter position,
Karly Greco (East Patchogue/Bellport) handed out 18 assists to lead the team while
Jessica Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) recorded 17. Libero
Allyson Coniglione (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) led the defense with 28 digs. Junior
Kristen Polan (Westhampton/Westhampton Beach) led the way up front with one solo block and seven block assists.

Saturday's first match brought a chance for redemption as the Red Dragons looked to avenge their loss to Western New England at the NYU Invitational. It took all five sets, but avenge the loss they did. The schools alternated the first four sets with Western New England taking sets one and three 25-22 and 25-23, respectively; as Oneonta took the sets two and four 25-18 and 25-20, respectively. Colleen Cashman used her final timeout trailing 10-7 in the determining set out of which Oneonta rallied as Kassidy Keivit recorded the kill to seal the victory. Darpino and junior
Hannah O'Neil (Brookhaven/Bellport) led the Red and White offense with 11 kills each. Pelaccio and Greco served as the setters registering 25 and 21 assists apiece. Coniglione continued to lead the defense with 16 digs.

The Red Dragons finished off the weekend against Colby. The teams split the first two sets, each going beyond the 25-point mark. Colby claimed the first set 29-27 before Oneonta returned the favor with a 28-26 second set win. The Red Dragons dropped the last two sets 25-15 and 25-20, respectively. O'Neil recorded 10 kills to lead the offense, while Coniglione made 27 digs on the defensive side.

Following her outstanding defensive performance, Coniglone was named the All-Tournament Team.

The Red and White finish off regular season conference play next weekend, when they travel to Plattsburgh to take on Buffalo State, Plattsburgh, and Brockport.
