Senior Alyshia Crawford (Oxford/Oxford) came up big down the stretch, as she lifted the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team to a 66-62 victory against Oswego in SUNYAC action tonight.  Crawford drained a three-pointer out of a timeout with 1:25 remaining in the contest and then scored a breakaway layup with 12 seconds to go off a steal by classmate Grace Schilling (Northport/Northport).  Crawford finished the game with a game high 23 points including four baskets from long range.

The two squads battled closely all game long.  The largest lead for either team was six points, and that was by Oneonta (8-2/2-1 SUNYAC) at 37-31 early in the second half.  Oswego's (4-6/0-3 SUNYAC) largest lead was four points on two occasions in the second half, the last one being 51-47 with 8:51 remaining in the game.

Crawford hit a three-pointer at the 3:26 mark to give the Red Dragons a 58-56 lead.  Oswego senior Jenn Robbins came right back with a layup to tie the score for a 15th time.  Robbins led the Lakers with 22 points in the contest.

Schilling scored on a driving layup to put Oneonta ahead 60-58 before Robbins buried a three-pointer to give the Lakers the lead back at 61-60 with 1:59 left to go.

A free throw by Schilling and one by Mary Mazella of Oswego kept the Lakers up by one with 1:33 to go, which set the stage for Crawford on the ensuing possession out of a timeout by the Red Dragons.

Schilling finished with 12 points as did junior Sarah Longto (Kingston/Kingston).

Mazella chipped in with 11 points while Paula Egelston added 12 points and a team high seven boards for the Lakers.

Oneonta will be at New Paltz this Saturday afternoon beginning at 2pm.
