The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team competed in the first of three SUNYAC weekend's at SUNY Cortland and came away with a 1-2 record. Oneonta (9-10) defeated Oswego today, but fell to SUNY Potsdam last night and SUNY Cortland today.
In Oneonta's sweep of Oswego today (25-23, 25-23, 25-23), senior
Bridget McHugh (New Hyde Park/Herricks) led the attack with eight kills while recording five blocks. Junior
Becca Horton (Owego/Owego Free Academy) collected 15 assists. Senior
Kristina Pelaccio (Verplanck/Hendrick Hudson) collected 14 digs.
In the three-set loss to Potsdam last night (24-26, 15-25, 21-25), sophomore
Hannah O'Neil (Brookhaven/Bellport) had seven kills. Freshman
Paige Carpluk (Yaphank/Bellport) led the defense with 10 digs. Sophomore
Karly Greco (East Patchogue/Bellport) had 15 assists.
In the final match today, Oneonta was swept by rival Cortland (20-25, 15-25, 20-25). Sophomore
Jill Darpino (Endicott/Union Endicott) had eight kills. Horton had 11 assists and one ace and three digs. Pelaccio had nine digs.
The Red Dragons are not in action again until Tuesday, Oct. 8 across the hill at Hartwick College beginning at 7pm.
