Oneonta, N.Y. – The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team fell to visiting SUNY Plattsburgh at home tonight, 16-6. The Cardinals took charge from the opening whistle, holding the Red Dragons scoreless for the first half en route to the lopsided victory.
Oneonta (2-9/0-3) had six different players score one goal each tonight. Lost in the final score was the performance in goal by senior Chris Miles, who faced 45 shots tonight and recorded 19 saves, many of which were from point blank range.
Plattsburgh (10-3/2-1) had four players with multiple goals. Tim Lawrence opened the first and second period with goals, the first 3 minutes into play and the second less than 50 seconds into the period. Joey Kramer, the team's leading scorer, and Lawrence each scored four goals. Nick Travers and Brendan Damm had two goals each and Travers provided two assists.
The Cardinals finished the game with a clear advantage in shots with 50-31 while just edging out the Red Dragons 33-32 on ground balls.
Oneonta will next be in action on Saturday when they play host to SUNY Potsdam in a game starting at 11:00 a.m.
