Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball defeats Averett 92-79

SUNY Oneonta senior Dan Lee (Ballston Lake/Shenendehowa) scored a collegiate career high 30 points and junior Zach Mager (New City/Clarkstown South) added 27 points, as the Red Dragons defeated Averett University last night 92-79.  The victory was Oneonta's third straight, as they evened its overall record at 4-4 with a chance for a fourth consecutive win tomorrow afternoon at Greensboro College.

Lee hit 9-of-12 shots from the field including a collegiate best seven three-pointers in leading all scorers in the contest.  Overall, Oneonta shot 48 percent from the field, which included 11-of-23 from long range.  It was the second time this season that the Red Dragons had eclipsed the 90-point mark.  Oneonta put up 95 points in its season opener against Rochester back in November.  The Red Dragons are currently averaging just under 79 points per game overall.

Oneonta trailed early in this game by as many as five points on two separate occasions until a three by Lee tied the game at 18 apiece at the 10:16 mark.  From there, it was all Oneonta, as they outscored Averett (2-6) 29-19 over the final stretch to take a 47-37 lead into halftime.

A three-point basket by Mager gave Oneonta a 17-point lead at the 10:03 mark of the second half.  From there, the Red Dragons cruised to the lopsided victory.

For Mager, it was the seventh game out of eight this year that he has scored 20 or more points.  He is currently averaging 24 points per game, which leads the SUNYAC.
