The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team had three players in double figures today but fell to SUNY Geneseo 57-51.  The Red Dragons also forced 22 turnovers, which they turned into 25 points, but shot only 26 percent including 19 percent in the second half.

Oneonta trailed for most of the first half before closing the final 3:15 with a 9-2 spurt that gave them a 29-23 lead at halftime.  Junior Grace Schilling (Northport/Northport) scored nine of her 11 points in the opening half to lead all scorers.

After Bryn Loomis (Norwich/Norwich) scored the opening basket of the second half, SUNY Geneseo scored 13 unanswered to take a 36-31 lead.

Oneonta still trailed 45-37 at the 11:02 mark before they scored 12 straight points to take a 49-45 lead.  Junior Alyshia Crawford (Oxford/Oxford) buried a three-pointer to cap the run.  Crawford led Oneonta today with 14 points.

The game was tied at 51 apiece with 2:50 left in the contest.  The Red Dragons didn't score another point while Geneseo converted six free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Last night, sophomore Sarah Longto (Kingston/Kingston) scored a team high 17 points while grabbing nine boards in leading the Red Dragons to a 68-51 victory against Brockport.  The win for Oneonta avenged a loss to the Golden Eagles earlier in the season.  The win was also the fourth straight for the Red Dragons, as they shot a season high 48 percent from the field.

Oneonta fell behind 5-0 early, but scored 20 unanswered points to take a lead that they would not relinquish.  The run was capped by a lay-up from Loomis.  Loomis finished the contest with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Crawford and Kristin Pappalardo (Mahopac/Lakeland) each reached double figures with 15 and 12 points respectively.  For Crawford, it was her third straight game in double figures.

Oneonta will have a week off before hosting Plattsburgh and SUNY Potsdam next weekend.  The Red Dragons will face Plattsburgh on Friday night beginning at 6pm while they will take on Potsdam on Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
