The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team came away empty from its weekend road trip to Brockport and Geneseo.  Today, the Red Dragons fell 79-62 while last night they were downed by Brockport 83-73.

Mager scored 23 points in today's game on 6-for-7 shooting from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw line.  Mager is currently shooting 88.5 percent (115-130) from the charity stripe this season, which has him on pace to set a single season record for free throw percentage.  He is also leading the team in scoring (18.6) and rebounding (7.2).

SUNY Geneseo led from start to finish today, leading by as many as 26 points with 3:46 remaining in the game.  A pair of Mager free throws with 1:54 left in the opening half brought Oneonta (2-15/1-10) to within three points at 35-32.  The free throws capped a 9-0 run by the Red Dragons.  That would be as close as Oneonta would be for the remainder of the contest.

Junior Dan Lee (Ballston Lake/Shenendehowa) scored a season high 14 points as the only other player to reach double figures for the Red Dragons.

Mager had 25 points to lead Oneonta last night.  Mager, who scored a career-high 40 points in a loss to Brockport earlier in the year, was 8-of-13 from the field while hitting 9-of-10 free throws.

The Golden Eagles scored the first nine points of the game en route to building a 45-30 lead at halftime.  A pair of Mager free throws with 44 seconds remaining got Oneonta to within seven points at 79-72.  Oneonta shot 49 percent from the floor for the game, but had 18 turnovers.

Freshman Jack Dignan (Brewster/Brewster) was the only other Red Dragon in double figures with 11 points.

Oneonta will travel to Hamilton College on Tuesday night for its final non-conference game of the season.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
