The Oneonta State baseball team ran into a strong arm today in falling at home to Keystone College 2-0. Giants' pitcher Blaine O'Brien struck out 12 Red Dragons en route to a complete game, four-hit shutout. The loss drops Oneonta to 13-13 overall while the win for Keystone, the #11 team in the latest ABCA Div. III poll, 23-4 overall.
The game was a pitcher's duel through the first six innings. Oneonta starter
Chris Tyson (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) threw the first five innings and surrendered only a pair of hits while striking out three batters. It wasn't until the seventh inning when Keystone made the Red Dragons pay for a throwing error that led to an unearned run and a 1-0 lead.
Freshman Lymbel Guerrero reached on the throwing error to start the seventh. He was then sacrificed to second by Miquel Castano before coming around to score on a single to center field by Frank Mormino.
The Giants added its second run of the game in the eighth inning. Chris Bzozowski hit a two-out double and scored a Guerrero single to left field.

Steve Ascher (Cutchogue/Mattituck) (1-1) was the tough luck loser for Oneonta. He entered the game at the beginning of the sixth inning and threw the final four innings. He allowed five hits and oneearned run while striking out two batters.
Mormino and Brian Del Rosso collected two hits each for Keystone. O'Brien threw 138 pitches and ran his recorded to 6-1 overall this spring.
Oneonta will host Plattsburgh on Tuesday for a key SUNYAC doubleheader beginning at 12pm. Oneonta is in third place currently in the conference and Plattsburgh is right behind them in fourth.
