The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team held host Utica College to eight points in the second half en route to a 59-29 rout on the road tonight.  The Red Dragons collected 15 steals and blocked 12 shots and held the Pioneers to 18 percent shooting in picking up its third straight win.

Leading three Oneonta (3-1) players in double figures was junior Kristin Pappalardo (Mahopac/Lakeland) with 16 points.  She hit four of the Red Dragons six three pointers.  She also collected six boards and three steals.

After Utica (2-1) scored the opening basket of the second half to cut the Oneonta lead to 30-23, the Red Dragons put the game out of reach with 13 unanswered points to take a commanding 43-23 lead.  Freshman Lyteshia Price (Liverpool/Liverpool) hit a jumper at the 13:25 mark to give Oneonta its largest lead of the game to that point.  Price finished the game with 12 points and 11 rebounds to go with a team high six steals.

Oneonta trailed early on 9-6, before a 15-0 run by the Red Dragons gave them the lead for good.  Oneonta held a 30-21 lead at halftime.

Junior Alyshia Crawford (Oxford/Oxford) rounded out Oneonta's double figure scorers with 10 points.

Oneonta will play its home opener on Wednesday against cross city rival Hartwick College beginning at 6pm.  Both squads qualified for the NCAA tournament last season.
