The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team swept through Sage College and CCNY today at the third annual Dig Pink Invitational to help in the fight against cancer. All monies raised from the event will go directly towards cancer research and education.
In the opening match of the day versus Sage, Oneonta (21-12) won 25-11, 25-18, 25-13. Seniors
Kacy Boburka (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) and
Brittany Calvello (Gloversville/Broadalbin-Perth) along with freshman
Hannah O'Neil (Brookhaven/Bellport) all recorded six kills to lead the attack. Calvello also had a team high 18 assists to go with four blocks while Boburka had a team high five aces to go with three blocks. Junior
Bridget McHugh (New Hyde Park/Herricks) recorded a team high six blocks.
Against CCNY, the entire squad of 18 players saw action in the sweep. Boburka recorded 11 kills in the match. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Vishneowski (Glenmont/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) had 14 assists and two aces.
Oneonta will now prepare for its SUNYAC tournament play-in match this Friday, Nov. 2 at Buffalo State versus SUNY Potsdam scheduled for noon. The two teams finished tied for third place in the East Division and must play each other to see who will get into the SUNYAC tournament hosted by Buffalo State. The winner will advance to play Fredonia at 6pm.
