The Oneonta State women's basketball team won its tenth SUNYAC game of the season with its 56-48 win at home tonight versus Plattsburgh. Senior Samantha Szkotak (New York Mills/New York Mills) scored a game high 19 points in the leading the way for the Red Dragons, who are now 12-6 overall.

Plattsburgh (7-11/4-8) made an early run in the second half and got to 32-30 less than two minutes into the half. A three pointer by sophomore Brooke Reifinger capped the quick five points out of the break.

Oneonta settled back in a began pulling away, pushing its lead back up to ten points at the 9:35 mark on a pair of free throws by sophomore Kelly Mulligan (Pearl River/Pearl River). The Cardinals only got as close as six points in the final two minutes of the contest.

Freshman Sarah Longto (Kingston/Kingston) collected a game high nine rebounds to go with four points and two blocks.

Plattsburgh had three players in double figures tonight led by Reifinger, who finished with 12 points.

Both teams shot well from deep in the first half, hitting five three-point baskets each. Oneonta Senior Madison Slagle (Rome/Rome Catholic) hit two from long range while freshman Brittany Marshall hit three from behind the arc for Plattsburgh.

Oneonta led by as many as 12 points in the first half with eight minutes to go before the Cardinals cut the lead 32-25 by halftime.

Oneonta will be on the road this weekend for back-to-back SUNYAC contest beginning at Geneseo on Friday night.
