Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball drops home contest versus Geneseo

Dan Lee leads Red Dragons with 11 points

The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team didn't score a field goal over a seven minute stretch, which cost them tonight versus SUNY Geneseo 61-51.  The contest was tight throughout with 10 ties and nine lead changes, but in the end, the Blue Knights capitalized on the scoreless drought en route to the victory on the road.

The loss for Oneonta drops them to 1-14 overall and 0-8 in the SUNYAC while Geneseo moves to 7-8 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

When sophomore Dan Lee (Ballston Lake/Shenendehowa) connected from downtown at the 10:04 mark of the second half, Oneonta pulled to within 48-47.  Over the next 7:13, the Blue Knights would score 13 unanswered points to put the game out of reach.  Sophomore Connor Fedge capped the run with an old fashioned three-point play at 1:57.  Fedge was one of three Blue Knights to score 10 points in the contest.  He was joined by classmates Matt Curry and Jordan Jones.

The two teams battled to a 30 all tie through the first 20 minutes of the contest.  Both squads shot better than 40 percent in the first half.  Oneonta's last lead was at 30-28 just before halftime.  The Red Dragons largest lead was 23-18 with 7:45 to go in the first half.

Geneseo shot an even 50 percent in the second half and their bench outscored Oneonta's bench 21-11 in tonight's contest.  Thomas Decker and Gordon Lyons combined for 15 of the 20 points to lead the Geneseo reserves.

Lee was the only player in double figures for Oneonta tonight with 11 points.  He hit 3-of-8 from behind the arc and 4-of-10 overall in the game.

Oneonta will host Brockport tomorrow afternoon beginning at 4pm in another SUNYAC contest.
