Brockport, N.Y. – The Oneonta State women's soccer team went on the road today to defeat Brockport 1-0. The Red Dragons improve their record to 2-1 in SUNYAC and 3-5 overall while Brockport moves to 1-2 in SUNYAC and 5-3-1 overall.

Dana DeSimone (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) scored the game winner in the 85
th minute off a service from sophomore
Alaina Greco (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa). Greco dribbled the ball down the right flank and served it into DeSimone at the top of the 18 yard box, who sent a left footed rocket past Golden Eagle keeper, Erin Asquith (Arcade/Pioneer). DeSimone leads the team in goals with three.
The Red Dragons got off to a hot start, but was unable to find the back of the net. In the eighth minute of the game, sophomores
Kori Hamm (Burlington Flats/Edmeston) (Burlington Flats/Edmeston) and
Karly DeSimone (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) combined on a corner kick, but the DeSimone's header hit the cross bar and was cleared out by a Brockport defender.
Brockport began to create better opportunities in the second half. The best look at goal for the Golden Eagles came 13 minutes into the second half, when sophomore Katie Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) dribbled the ball up the right side and took a shot from about 12 yards out that sailed just high.
Less than five minutes later, D. DeSimone dribbled the ball up the left flank and sent a cross inside the box to freshman
Elise Moinzadeh (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa). Moinzadeh collected the ball, took a touch and fired a shot that hit the inside of the right post. The ball got cleared off the line by a defender before a Red Dragon could get there to finish it.
Oneonta outshot Brockport 16-4 and held an advantage in corners 11-4.
Red Dragon goalkeeper,
Amy Lusby (West Babylon/N. Babylon) (West Babylon/North Babylon), made one save on the day to pick up her third win and first shutout of the season. Lusby's counterpart, Asquith, made four saves in the loss.
The Red Dragons play at SUNYAC foe Geneseo tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
