Box Score

ONEONTA, NY- After 108 minutes of soccer, the Oneonta Red Dragons fell to visiting rival Cortland, 2-1 in double OT this afternoon at Red Dragon Field. The loss drops Oneonta's record to 2-5 overall (1-1 SUNYAC) while Cortland improves to 4-4-1 overall (1-1 SUNYAC).

Cortland got on the board in the 19th minute when Taylor Teal (Delmar/Bethlehem) sent a thru ball to Stacey Wood (New Hyde Park/New Hyde Park) who deposited into Oneonta's net.

Senior Dana DeSimone (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) tied the game in the middle of the second half, scoring off a rebounded back save. The play started when Kori Hamm (Burlington Flats/Edmeston) (Burlington Flats/Edmeston) shot towards Cortland goalie, Pam Monnier (East Northport/Northport), which was punched out. Oneonta's Jenna McCarey (Middletown/Middletown) (Middletown/Middletown) collected the loose ball and fired it right back in on goal where defender Tara Brady (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) saved it from going in but failed to clear it. DeSimone was there to collect the loose ball and fired it into the open net.

The game remained tied at the end of regulation and through the first overtime. The Red Dragons best chance to secure the victory was in the middle of the second overtime when McCarey had a breakaway opportunity that was just kicked wide by Monnier.

Minutes later Cortland's Allie Maguire (Ballston Lake/Shenendehowa) crossed the ball into the box where Caitlin Guerra (Highland Falls/James I. O'Neill) volleyed the pass into the lower left corner for the game-winning goal.

Oneonta's Amy Lusby (West Babylon/N. Babylon) (West Babylon/N.Babylon) recorded six saves and Cortland's Monnier picked up five. Cortland outshot Oneonta 15-8.
Oneonta travels to Brockport next Friday for a conference match up starting at 4:00 p.m.
