Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer works overtime for victory against Hartwick

Red Dragons pick up initial win of 2011

Box Score

Oneonta State senior Alanna Fisher (Suffern/Suffern) (Suffern/Suffern) picked an opportune time to score her first collegiate goal as she lifted the Red Dragons to a 2-1 victory over Hartwick tonight in double overtime.  The goal came just 48 seconds into the second overtime to end the game between the city rivals.

The two teams went scoreless through the first extra session until Fisher was able to end the game with an assist from Krystal Scott (Centereach/Newfield) (Centereach/Newfield).

Oneonta (1-2) dominated the contest outshooting the Hawks (1-2) 23-3.  Hawks Keeper Hope Brown made 12 saves in goal while her counterpart, Amy Lusby (West Babylon/N. Babylon) (West Babylon/North Babylon) made two saves.

After 78 minutes of scoreless soccer, junior Kayla Brantmeyer (Center Moriches/Center Moriches) (Center Moriches/Center Moriches) got Oneonta on the scoreboard with her first goal of the season.  It was an unassisted goal as Brantmeyer collected a loose ball off a deflected shot.

The Hawks then caught a break four minutes later when Julie McNeff scored off a rebound of a shot by Lysandra Tetreault to even the score at one goal apiece.

Oneonta will be on the road this weekend for games at Trinity and nationally ranked Williams College.  The Red Dragons face Trinity on Saturday before squaring off with the Ephs on Sunday.
