FREDONIA, N.Y.—The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team overcame a twelve point halftime deficit and pulled out a 65-61 win today on the road versus Fredonia. Three Red Dragons scored in double figures led by junior Madison Slagle (Rome, Rome Catholic), who scored 15 points, including 13 after halftime, to lead the comeback.

Sophomore Gabi Regan (Troy, Columbia) came off the bench to add 12 points, eight of which came in the second half, and freshman Kelly Mulligan (Pearl River, Pearl River) scored a collegiate high 11 points in the win.

Oneonta trailed from the opening tip, finding themselves down by 11 points in the first four minutes of the contest. The Red Dragons were down by as many as 20 points with less than nine minutes to go before closing the gap to 36-24 at the break.

Oneonta was still trailing by 10 points at the 13:53 mark of the second half before starting to chip away at Fredonia's lead. Sophomore Kate Wilverding (Manalapan, NJ, St. John Vianney) capped an 8-2 spurt with a lay-up at 11:13 that cut the lead to four points.

After a three-point basket by Caroline Hourihan of Fredonia (5-15/3-11), Oneonta scored eight unanswered to take its first lead of the game at 50-49 with 7:18 remaining.

The lead continued to change hands for the next three minutes until the game was knotted at 56 apiece with 4:15 left to go. The Red Dragons took the lead for good with a 7-2 run capped by a Slagle lay-up as the held on for the well-earned, four-point win.

Oneonta will not be in action again until next Friday evening when they face conference-leading Geneseo at home beginning at 6:00 p.m.
