Oneonta State split a pair of games in Clermont, Fla., on Monday.
The Red Dragons (4-1) opened with an 8-0 loss to reigning national champion Messiah (Pa.), before beating Mary Washington, 6-4.
Jillian Serraro (Hopewell Jct/John Jay) went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs in the victory over Mary Washington. Katie Hackenburg (Queensbury/Queensbury) contributed three hits for the Red Dragons, who received two hits apiece from Katie Kraus (North Bellmore/Kellenberg Memorial) and Bethany Truax.
Winning pitcher Jess Rhoads struck out 15 and walked one in a five-inning no-hitter for Messiah against O-State. The Red Dragons didn't put a ball in play.
Serraro walked with two outs in the first for Oneonta's lone baserunner.
O-State won two games Sunday, sweeping Marywood. The Red Dragons won the first game, 11-0, followed by a 4-3 victory in the second game.
Serraro went 3-for-4 with five RBIs in the 11-0 victory. Stacy Donald contributed two hits. Winning pitcher Jessica Iuliano (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley Regional) threw a one-hitter, striking out 11 and walking two.
Jessica Bartalsky (New Paltz/New Paltz) struck out 11 to earn the victory in the second game. She allowed five hits and walked two. None of the three runs were earned.
Sam Voncina (Derby/Lake Shore) had two hits for O-State. Truax had a hit and two RBIs.
The Red Dragons opened the season Saturday with a 6-5 victory over Augustana. Truax went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Aly Helstrom (Montgomery/Valley Central) contributed two hits and two RBIs.
Oneonta plays Capital University at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Red Dragons also play Thiel College at 1:30 p.m.
