OSWEGO, N.Y.—The SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team got goals from junior Dana DeSimone (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park) and senior Nha Wright (Schenectady/Duanesburg) (Schenectady) today in defeating Oswego on the road 2-1. With the win, the Red Dragons clinched the regular season title and a first round bye for the SUNYAC tournament, which begins next Saturday with the quarterfinals. The regular season crown is the 12th consecutive for Oneonta, who is 12-4-2 overall while finishing with a 7-1-1 conference record for 2010.

The announcement of the tournament pairings and locations of games will be announced early this week by the SUNYAC office.

All the scoring in today's game versus the Lakers (6-10-1/1-7-1) came in the opening half of play. Wright scored her goal in the fourth minute of the game with an assist from sophomore Kayla Brantmeyer (Center Moriches/Center Moriches). Wright beat a defender after a pass in by Brantmeyer freed her up for the shot.

DeSimone made it 2-0 in the 34th minute when she scored an unassisted goal off a rebound.

The lone goal for Oswego came just 13 seconds after DeSimone's goal to cut the lead in half. Shelly Bateman scored with an assist from Nikki Liadka.

Junior goalkeeper, Amy Lusby (West Babylon/N. Babylon) (West Babylon), did not record any saves in today's match. She is now 10-4-2 on the season.

The Red Dragons will conclude its regular season this Tuesday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Ithaca for a 3:30 p.m. match.
