Melissa Guglielmo (Somers/Somers) (Somers).
Oneonta was outshot in the game16-5, but junior goalie,
Amy Lusby (West Babylon/N. Babylon) (West Babylon), came up huge with some stellar saves in the final minutes. In the 83rd minute, sophomore Rachael Palladino beat four defenders to the front of the net and was stopped on a hard, point-blank shot that Lusby pushed over the crossbar. Three minutes later, freshman Ericka Ilkanich headed a pass backwards to Palladino, who took a left-footed shot that was kept out by a diving save.
The women will now prepare for the SUNYAC tournament, which begins this Saturday with quarterfinal matches. Oneonta, which won the regular season title to earn the top seed will get a bye into the semifinals, which will take place on Friday, Nov. 5.
