Oneonta, NY – SUNY Oneonta not only battled the Blue Knights of Geneseo but also the cold and windy conditions on the Wright National Soccer Fields in today's game. The Red Dragons were able to defeat Geneseo 3-0 in competitive conference action.


Geneseo won the coin toss taking the wind in the first half thinking it would be an advantage. Karly DeSimone (Clifton Park) proved that not to be true, scoring in the 12th minute against the wind after the ball hit the post and bounced in to put the Red Dragons up 1-0.

With the wind to their benefit in the second half, Oneonta kept the tempo scoring in the 54th minute of play. Dana DeSimone (Clifton Park) shot the ball from 25 yards out and into the back right corner of the net for the Red Dragons.

Sophomore Kayla Brantmeyer (Center Moriches/Center Moriches) (Center Moriches) put it out of reach for Geneseo when in the 72nd minute of play she shot the ball from the left wing putting the Red Dragons up 3-0.

Sensing time ticking down Geneseo played with intensity and urgency, Jane Matejcik and Ashley Keogh both had opportunities but keeper Amy Lusby (West Babylon/N. Babylon) (West Babylon) was there to make both saves.

Officially, Oneonta remains undefeated when playing on the Wright National Soccer Field with an all-time record of 37-0-2.

Oneonta will play on Red Dragon Soccer Field on the campus of SUNY Oneonta facing Brockport on Saturday, October 2nd at 1 p.m.
