Box Score Sophomore
Nicholas Gregg (Apalachin/Owego Free Academy) scored four times on Tuesday afternoon helping the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons open their 2009 season with a 10-0 shutout of the visiting Cobleskill Fighting Tigers at Oneonta's Red Dragon Field. Gregg's four-goal game makes him the first Oneonta men's player since 1988 to complete such a feat.
Sophomore
Tim Sagasti (Endicott/Union-Endicott) put the Red Dragons on the board with a goal in the seventh minute of play before Gregg tamed the Tigers pulling off a hat-trick in the span of 10-minutes to give the Red Dragons a 4-0 lead 22:46 into the game.
The Red Dragons added goals from
Evan Jedynak (Malta/Ballston Spa) and
Matt Lindermann (Millerton/Webutuck) at 26:28 and 33:03 respectively to close the first half a 6-0 lead.
In the second half the Oneonta offense continued to add to their lead pouring on four more goals. Gregg added to his scoring total with his fourth goal of the day in the 67th minute before the freshman duo of
Eric Fortier (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) and
Teddy DeConno (Poestenkill/Averill Park) joined in on the scoring parade with their first collegiate goals in the 75th and 77th minutes.
Jedynak closed out the scoring with a goal in the 80th minute for the final margin of victory.
Oneonta senior
Jonathan Korn (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills) and sophomore
Jesse Dobson (Holtsville/Sachem) split the game in goal for the Red Dragons to combine for the shutout with four total saves on the day.
The Red Dragons will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Farmingdale for a game beginning at 11:00 am.
