Butcher is on the staff in her third year as an assistant after having been a successful singles and doubles player for the Red Dragons from 2014-16.
Butcher also played three years of high school tennis and was the sectional doubles champion. What separates Samantha from her peers is that she grew up learning from her mother who has been a tennis coach for 25 years. As a budding tennis star, she was indoctrinated with a plethora of tennis coaching and knowledge. In her short career she has already worked for Section IV boy’s tennis in Upstate NY as an assistant co-chair and represented the high school All-Stars and their individual coaches at the New York State Championships the previous three-years. During her previous two-years as the Assistant Coach for Red Dragon Tennis she supported Coach Mitchel in all areas of the collegiate program recruiting several standouts on the current squad.
Every June, you could also find Butcher roaming the grounds of the National Tennis Center as one of the state high school tennis championship coordinators.
Butcher will now support Head Coach Lonnie Mitchel assisting exclusively with fundraising activities and social media coordination. She will also be filling in periodically with on-court instruction, administration and recruiting.
