Gillen paced Oneonta this past weekend at the NCAA Northeast Regional championships hosted by WPI. Gillen finished third at 165 lbs. and earned the automatic berth to the NCAA Division III championships that went to the top-three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes.

Gillen, who was seeded sixth, won his first match Saturday before falling to the third seed in his next match. He won his last match of the day to advance into the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.

On Sunday, Gillen won three straight matches including a 3-1 decision in sudden-victory against the No. 5 seed in the third place match. To advance into the third place match, Gillen had a 4-3 decision against the No. 4 seed.
