The 2017-18 season finds Coach Tom Moriarty in his 20th season with the women's basketball team. The program has seen much success with his guidance, knowledge and consistent presence on the sidelines. His attention to detail and breadth of experience in the field make him an irreplaceable asset to the SUNY Oneonta Women’s Basketball program and the Athletic Department. The program has seen much success in his tenure, amassing a record of 323-169.
A graduate of Brockport State, Moriarty has a basketball background that includes over 30 years of coaching at various levels. His greatest success came when coaching the Oneonta High School girls’ varsity team. There he led Oneonta to three consecutive Section 4 Class B titles (1997, 1998, 1999), New York State Public High School Athletic Association Titles in 1997 and 1998 and the State Class B Federation Title in 1998. During this stretch, Moriarty's team put together a string of 56 consecutive wins including an undefeated season in 1997-1998. He has also coached football, basketball and track at Morris, Unatego and Oneonta High School's.
Moriarty lives in Oneonta and worked as a Physical Education teacher at Unatego Central School where he retired after 35 years of service to the district.
