Wagner enters her seventh season as the Head Coach of the Oneonta State softball program. Since she took over in 2007, the Red Dragons have registered three 20-win seasons while qualifying for the SUNYAC tournament twice.
In six seasons, Wagner has coached 11 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Northeast All-Region players, 10 SUNYAC All-Conference honorees, and four SUNYAC All-Tournament selections.
Before joining the Athletic Department at Oneonta State, Wagner served as an Assistant Coach at Division I Harvard University in Boston (2003, 2004). Before that she spent a season as the Graduate Assistant Coach at Troy University in Alabama (2002), also a Division I program. She worked primarily with pitchers and outfielders at both schools while also assisting in practice planning, strength and conditioning of athletes, game management, and office administration. While at Troy University she worked toward her Masters of Business Administration degree (MBA), which she later completed in 2004.
A 1993 graduate of nearby Sidney Central School, Wagner was a scholarship athlete for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Softball program. She graduated from UMass in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design and a concentration in Architecture. Wagner and her UMass teammates won four Atlantic-10 Conference Championships and captured two NCAA Northeast Regional titles. During her junior and senior seasons she helped lead UMass to the Division I Women’s College World Series (WCWS) in Oklahoma City, placing them amongst the top 8 teams in the nation.
In 1996, Wagner earned the Atlantic-10 Pitcher of the Year honor as well as an A-10 All Conference distinction with a 0.23 ERA and a 5-0 record in conference play, while she also finished with a 1.08 ERA overall, ranking her 22nd nationally amongst all Division I pitchers. In 1998 Wagner led the A-10 Conference with a 0.71 ERA and remained an integral part of a UMass pitching staff which consistently ranked in the Top 10 nationally from 1996-1998, topping out in the #2 spot in 1998. She is still, arguably, the most accurate pitcher in UMass history holding the all-time career record for fewest walks per 7 innings (1.15). Wagner finished her tenure at UMass with a record of 31 wins and 16 losses along with a 1.48 career ERA in 63 appearances on the mound, while tossing 2 career no-hitters including a perfect game.
In 1999 Wagner had a stint playing professional softball in Parma, Italy for Robuschi Softball of the Italian Federation of Baseball and Softball where she pitched and played first base. She had the opportunity to compete against players from Italy, Australia, Japan, and China.
In addition to coaching, Wagner also serves as the Student Athlete Affairs Administrator for Athletics Department as well as the Co-Advisor of SAAC. She is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), a graduate of the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy (Denver Class of 2008) and a Landmark Education Forum graduate.
