Marquis Brown 1213

Marquise Brown

Brown is entering his first season at Oneonta. He will work exclusively with the horizontal jumps, but helping in other event areas, as well.

Brown enters his ninth year in the college coaching ranks. He most recently coached at Graceland University in Lamoni, IA, where he oversaw the sprints, jumps, hurdles, relays, and some of the throwing events. There, he co-coached Florida Siaosi to a seventh place finish at the 2012 NAIA Outdoor National Championships. Marriah Willis (600m) and Alex Stewart (Javelin) also competed at the national championships under Brown.

Brown has coached nine conference champions, five national qualifiers, numerous athletes to top 10 school performances, and one school record-holder at Graceland and stints at NCAA schools UNC-Asheville, Loras College, and Lewis University.

Brown competed for Harry A. Burke Senior High School in Omaha, NE, where he finished third in the Class A triple jump at the 1999 State Track Meet. After high school, he continued his jumping career at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA, and powerhouse Lewis University in Romeoville, IL, where he was a standout horizontal jumper.

At Morningside, Brown was named to the All-North Central Conference team five times, and is the current school record holder for the indoor and outdoor long jump. He continued to excel at Lewis, winning three Great Lakes Valley Conference titles, garnering four All-GLVC awards, and becoming a two-time NCAA Division II All-American in the TJ.

Brown ended his collegiate career as an 11x national qualifier, while also placing himself as the number two all-time performer in the triple jump at Morningside and Lewis.
