My goal for the cross country and track & field programs is to create an
environment that
everybody wants to be a part of. I want to raise excitement around our program not only to top athletes, but also to our alumni and fan base. By bringing in athletes and coaches who are
team-oriented, we have created a team-first culture that
drives our performances. There is a strong sense of motivation that comes from being a part of something
greater than yourself.
Our
formula for success at Oneonta is simple – be a
winner in everything that we do. The student-athletes who commit to that lifestyle at Oneonta graduate saying that this was the
best four years of their lives. Our approach starts with a commitment to the process, and ends with the men and women on our team to growing as athletes, scholars, and most importantly, as people.
During the track & field season, I directly coach Oneonta’s distance runners and throwers, along with help from some of our experienced assistant coaches.
Our distance running program starts with
passion. We bring in young men and women who love to run and strive for personal bests. Once on campus we encourage a lifestyle of
hard work and
clean healthy living. Those who embrace that lifestyle are
improving every day and competing at a national level while
having fun in the process.
Our throws philosophy at Oneonta is to work on
3 major elements year round:
TechniqueStrength & PowerSpecific Strength When all 3 of these qualities are developed and balanced, our throwers produce their longest throws and
compete among the top throwers in the NCAA. We develop these three skills through video analysis, training in one of the most advanced weight rooms in the NCAA, and by throwing varying weighted implements.
Prior to Oneonta, I served as an assistant coach for cross country and track & field at the University of Redlands. During that time our women’s track & field team won a SCIAC team championship. In addition to coaching, I earned a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education.
I am an alumnus of SUNY Oneonta, having graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While at Oneonta, I was a member of both the cross-country and track & field teams. I am proud to be back at my alma mater and thankful for the opportunity to lead a program that had such a positive impact on my college experience.
