Ethan McDonald joined the SUNY Oneonta Cross Country/ Track & Field coaching staff in the fall of 2021 as an assistant coach. He will be primarily responsible for coaching the sprinters and assisting the middle-distance runners.
Between 2016-19 he competed for all three Men’s Cross-Country teams that qualified for the NCAA championship meet. During that time, McDonald was a three-time SUNYAC All-Conference Cross-Country runner and was named to the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame in 2018. He earned All-Region honors twice during his career and his eighth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Atlantic Region championships is the best all-time for the men's program.
As a Track and Field athlete, McDonald earned SUNYAC All-Conference honors in the 4x400 meter relay, 800-meter run and was the 2019 SUNYAC Conference Champion in the Mile.
McDonald graduated from Oneonta in May of 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Business Economics and a minor in Sociology. His academic achievements include four consecutive appearances on the SUNYAC Commissioner’s academic honor roll, being a three-time USTFCCCA scholar athlete, and induction into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
A native of Guilderland, New York, he recently served as a swim lesson instructor, a private tutor, and helped with his family’s small accounting business.
