Burns enters his first year on the Oneonta State baseball staff after a four-year career at Plattsburgh.
A native of Ellenville, N.Y., Burns was the captain of the Cardinals baseball team as a senior in 2010 when the program recorded 30 wins while earning its first national ranking. During his four years with Plattsburgh, the team posted 94 wins, which is the most wins during any four-year period in the program’s history.
Burns started 69 of 103 games played during his career with the Cardinals. He finished with a .274 average, which includes a career-best .319 average in 2009. He had a .421 on-base percentage, drove in 47 runs and collected 77 total bases. He finished with a career fielding percentage of .953 with 337 total chances.
Burns graduated in December with a combined Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degree for teachers in adolescence education.
