Hegmann enters his second season as an assistant coach for Oneonta after playing for the Red Dragons from 2011-13. His primary duties as assistant coach include; working with the pitchers and helping with recruiting for the Red Dragons.
In the summer of 2016, Hegmann was the Head Coach of the Sherrill Silversmiths of the NYCBL. an MLB sponsored summer league, where he took a last place team and doubled their win/loss record. He will return to Sherrill this summer as the Head Coach and as a board member for the team.
Hegmann's collegiate playing career started at SUNY Orange where he won a conference championship in 2010. He then transferred to SUNY Oneonta where he finished his career as a captain for the Red Dragons while being selected as a Second Team All-Conference pitcher in 2013.
Hegmann appeared in 40 games on the mound for Oneonta and finished his career with seven saves and a 5-6 record with an ERA of 4.04.
During the 2013-14 seasons Hegmann was the pitching coach for Division II Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia. While coaching at Davis and Elkins he coached three pitchers to All-Conference honors as first year players for the Senators.
In the summer of 2014 Hegmann was the pitching coach for the Stasburg Express in the Virginia Valley League where he coached two MLB draft picks.
Hegmann earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice from SUNY Oneonta in 2013. He was selected to the 2013 All-Academic Team and Commissioner's List in the Spring of 2013.
Hegmann currently works on campus as an adjunct lecturer part time while he works on completing his Master’s Degree in Sport Management at SUNY Cortland.
