Senior captain Wright and freshman Kori Hamm both had assists on DeSimone’s goals. The Bengals had a chance to score in the 82nd minute when a shot hit the crossbar.

The Bengals took an early lead, scoring two goals in the first 16 minutes of play.

It was an action packed first half as the Red Dragons did not waste time getting on the scoreboard. In the 7th minute of play senior captain Caitlin Burke crossed the ball from the far right directly to junior Jenna McCarey who put it in the net for Oneonta.

11 minutes later sophomore Kayla Brantmeyer received the ball in the box close to the net where she shot as the keeper mishandled the ball letting it bounce behind her to put the Red Dragons up 2-0.
Amanda Regensburger and Meredith Clinton both were able to come off the bench and have a shot on goal in the game and keeper Lusby three saves on the day.

Field Hockey (6-4/0-2 SUNYAC)

Sept. 25th vs. Houghton, W 4-2

Oneonta senior Ainsley Stoll hit the back of the goal four times last Saturday in leading the Red Dragons to a 4-2 win against visiting Houghton College in non-conference field action. With her first goal of the day, Stoll became the first player to reach 100 career points for the field hockey program since 1985 when two Oneonta Hall of Famers, Sue Murray and Becky Ryan, eclipsed the milestone.

Today’s outburst was the second time this season Stoll has registered three goals in a game. She has all five of Oneonta’s game-winning goals this season and currently leads the team with 12 goals and has an even 50 for her career. The 50 goals moved her into a tie for third all-time with another Hall of Fmaer, Jenny Willink. Stoll currently has 107 career points, which is fifth all-time, only two points out of a tie for fourth. Murray is the program’s leader with 140 points.

Oneonta actually trailed at halftime 2-1 to Houghton. Houghton scored in the 19th and 26th minute to take the lead 2-0.

Stoll’s first goal of the game came with less than two minutes to go in the first half to cut Houghton’s lead in half. Her final three goals were all textbook corners. Junior Jacqueline Camp fed the ball to Stoll three times and three times Stoll blasted the ball by the Highlander’s goalie. Stoll’s final goal came in the 67th minute.

Sept. 29th vs. Ithaca, W 3-0
SUNY Oneonta senior Rachel Taylor came up big for the Red Dragons scoring twice against Ithaca in non-conference field hockey action last Wednesday. Oneonta controlled most of the game shutting out the Bombers 3-0.

Ithaca did their best to keep an up paced tempo of play with multiple substitutions throughout the game but was unsuccessful in controlling the ball. Both teams had five shots in the first half but only the Red Dragons were able to capitalize. In the 18th minute of play Taylor was able to score off a penalty corner to put Oneonta up 1-0.

Oneonta made a quick statement to start off the second half. One minute and 12 seconds into the second half Taylor dribbled right up the middle and scored again putting the Red Dragons up 2-0. Taylor also added an assist on the day when she passed that ball to the middle where Stoll recorded her 13th goal of the season in the 44th minute of the game to put the game out of reach for the Bombers.
