Oneonta State closed their first ever year of competition with a small meet at Hartwick College. Junior Lisa Johnson finished on a high note with a 4th place finish in the 100 meter high hurdles in a personal best time of :19.01. The Red Dragons will enter official NCAA Division III, SUNYAC, and ECAC competition in the winter and spring of 2003.
University at Albany Spring Classic - Friday, May 10th, 2002
Despite fierce winds, Oneonta State had some good decent performances in placing 11th out of 16 teams with 17 points. Freshman Ashlee Robertson placed 7th in the 200 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of :26.23. She also placed 3rd in the 400 with a time of 1:01.77. Hitting SUNYAC standards were freshman Jen Macri in placing 15th in the 200 with a time of :29.56, senior Sara Snyder in placing 2nd in the 5,000 with a personal best time of 19:56.48, and sophomore Abby McQueeney Penamonte in placing 15th in the pole vault with a vault of 2.45 meters (8' 1/2").

The Penn Relays - Thursday & Friday, April 25th & 26th, 2002
Oneonta State had a great showing in their first ever trip to the Penn Relays. Brooke Davis, Ashlee Robertson, Kelly Stevens, and Rose Velan placed 7th in their heat of the 4x400 meter relay on Thursday. Their time of 4:07.99 knocked more than 6 seconds off of their own school record, which was set two weeks ago at West Point. The same quartet came back on Friday and placed 9th in their heat of the 4x200 meter relay in a time of 1:51.32. You can view the races at www.TrackMeets.com.
Hartwick College Invitational - Saturday, April 20th, 2002
The Red Dragons racked up more qualifiers for SUNYAC's and ECAC's when they battled cross town rival Hartwick. The athlete of the day was clearly freshman Ashlee Robertson, who placed 2nd in both the 100 and 200, while running ECAC qualifying times of :13.13 and :26.98, respectively. She also led off the victorious 1,600 meter relay team with Kelly Stevens, Holly Bisbee, and Rose Velan in a time of 4:17.48. Stevens also added to the ECAC qualifying with a 2nd place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.92.

After heavy rains subsided, the Red Dragons got down to business in calm, but foggy conditions at West Point. There were many new qualifiers for SUNYAC's and ECAC's.

Ithaca College Invitational - Saturday, April 6th, 2002
Despite bitter cold and blustery conditions at Ithaca College, Oneonta State got some surprisingly good performances. Sophomore Abby McQueeney Penamonte vaulted her way to a new personal best in winning the pole vault. She cleared 2.24 meters (7' 4 1/4") in bettering her qualifying mark for SUNYAC's. Sophomores Rose Velan and Kelly Stevens also reached the SUNYAC standards again in the 400 meters (3rd place - :63.6) and 1500 meters (2nd - 5:08.4), respectively. Velan teamed with freshmen Ashlee Roberston, Jill Mastrella, and Brooke Davis in placing second in the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 53.0. Robertson also hit the SUNYAC standard again in placing 4th in the 200 meters (:27.2). New SUNYAC qualifiers included senior Sara Snyder, who ran a personal best of 5:19.4 in placing 5th in the 1500 meters, freshman Jill Mastrella in the 200 meters with a time of 29.1 (10th place), freshman Kristin Miltenberg in the discus with a throw of 28.98 meters (95' 1") good for 7th place, and senior Autumn Koich in the hammer with a throw of 28.23 meters (92' 7") good for 3rd place.

Battleground Relays @ Mary Washington College - Saturday, March 30th, 2002
The Red Dragons finished their 10 day southern trip at the Battleground Relays in Fredericksburg, VA at Mary Washington College. Leading the charge for the Red Dragons was freshman Ashlee Robertson and sophomore Abby McQueeney Penamonte. Both hit the SUNYAC qualifying standards in their respective events. Robertson ran :13.55 in her heat of the 100 meters and McQueeney Penamonte vaulted 7' 0" on the pole vault. They also teamed with freshman Carol Tichio and sophomore Jessica Tylutki in placing 10th in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 4:37.8.

Disney's Track & Field Showcase - Saturday, March 23rd, 2002
Oneonta State began it's inaugural season of women's outdoor track & field at the Disney Track & Field Showcase in Orlando, FL. Leading the charge for the Red Dragons was freshman Ashlee Robertson. She placed 7th in the 400 meters with a time of :62.52 and 9th in the 200 meters with a time of :27.42. Both times hit the SUNYAC qualifying standards. She also led off the 3200 meter relay team which placed 4th in a time of 10:56.50. She was joined on that team by senior Sara Snyder, sophomore Jessica Tylutki, and freshman Carol Tichio. Tichio finished off the day for the Red Dragons with a 15th place finish in the 200 meters with a time of :29.67, which hit the SUNYAC standard.
