ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's cross country team had four finishers in the top five to win the annual Airfield Invitational held at Fortin Park on Friday evening. The Red Dragons scored 21 points, while Cortland was the runner-up with 44.

Sophomore Xander Kunz (Elbridge, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) set the pace, running a 19:57.4 to finish first overall in the 6k course. Senior Lucas Berg (Nyack, NY/Nyack) grabbed third at 20:07.4, and sophomore Chris Jones placed fourth at 20:07.8. Senior Pickard was close behind at 20:09.9 for fifth place. Also in the top ten was freshman Ryan Pepples (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley Central) in eighth place with a time of 20:23.2.

Junior Vincent DiStefano (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West) ran a 20:56.6 for 21st place, and sophomore Alex Wheeler crossed 23rd at 21:06.2. Freshman Thomas Cerna (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) went for 26th at 21:22.6, and sophomore Nick Petro (Peru, NY/Peru) placed 28th at 21:29.9.

Oneonta next competes at the Hamilton Short Course Invitational on September 12.
