Women's Cross Country Finishes Fifth at Hamilton Short Course Invitational

CLINTON, NY - The Oneonta women's cross-country team placed fifth at the Hamilton College Short Course XC Invitational on Saturday morning. Oneonta had two runners finish in the top 25 as the team scored 119 points in the 4K race with an average time of 16:10.9. Roberts Wesleyan won the team event with 32 points with an average time of 15:22.0. 

"A lot of solid effort from a mostly young group of women who keep improving each week," Associate Head Coach Meghann Tanner. "We are excited to see how they pan out in their first full length race at Rochester next weekend."

Freshman Paige Baker (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) was Oneonta's top finisher, placing 13th overall with a time of 15:44.0. Freshman Alannah McCarthy (Slingerlands, NY/Clayton A. Bouton) followed closely behind, finishing 18th at 15:46.9. Senior Olivia Komacek (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) (Whitesboro, NY) crossed the line 34th overall with a time of 16:17.8.

Senior Keyla Mendoza (Freeport, NY/Freeport)-Stapleton placed 38th at 16:30.5, while junior Sophia Allen (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) (Scotia, NY) rounded out Oneonta's scoring five in 42nd place with a time of 16:35.2. Sophomore Alex Friedel (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) was sixth for Oneonta, finishing 43rd overall at 16:38.2, and sophomore Lilly Jacobs (Williamson, NY/Williamson Central) took 55th at 17:03.5.

The Red Dragons will travel to Rochester to compete in the Yellowjacket Invitational on September 19th at 10 am at Genesee Valley Park.
