ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta softball senior
Julia Serena (White Plains, N.Y./Valhalla) led the team to a 6-2 week in conference play and was named the SUNYAC Softball Athlete of the Week, Monday afternoon. It is Serena's second time this season receiving the conference's weekly accolade.
The senior catcher continued her outstanding campaign and finished the week 15-for-30 for a .500 batting average with six doubles, two home runs, and 12 RBI. Serena opened with a 2-for-6 performance against New Paltz, then erupted for a combined 5-for-9 with three doubles, a homer, and five RBI at Oswego. Against Potsdam, she went 3-for-7 with another home run and four RBI, and capped off the week by going 5-for-8 with two doubles and three RBI in a sweep of Plattsburgh. Serena continues to lead the SUNYAC in several categories including batting average (.476), home runs (7), and RBI (31).
The Red Dragons are currently 14-12 this season, 8-2 in the SUNYAC, and will be back in action on Tuesday, April 22, for a non-conference doubleheader at Hamilton starting at 3:30 pm. Oneonta will face Cortland in the Battle of the Red Dragons on Friday, April 25, starting at 3 pm.
