Oneonta Men's Swim & Dive Competes at Hartwick Tri-Meet

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's swimming & diving team split at the Hartwick Tri-Meet on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons defeated Potsdam 218-29 and lost 202-103 to Hartwick.

Oneonta opened the swimming events by taking first in the 200-yard medley relay with senior Brendan Heaney (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks Central), Calvin Hitzschke (Mexico, NY/Mexico Academy & Central School), junior Nick Rhodes (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), and Cosmo Martinelli (Albany, NY/Albany) swimming a 1:39.42.

Heaney went on to finish fourth in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:57.86. In the 100-yard backstroke, Rhodes won at 54.96. He then won the 200-yard backstroke at 2:08.09. Fifth-year Maddox Aramini (Cooperstown, NY/Cherry Valley-Springfield) grabbed second at 2:10.80

Martinelli placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:04.44, while senior Jack Humphrey touched fourth at 1:07.31. Hitzschke earned third in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:11.98.

Aramini placed second in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.07.

Martinelli continued with a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 50.78. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Heaney finished third at 2:32.39, and sophomore Bastion Dudley placed fourth at 2:35.80.

Rhodes took second in the 100-yard butterfly (54.48) and Hitzschke was third (55.55).

Oneonta earned second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Hitzschke, Russell Cheng (Westchester, NY/Ardsley), Dylan Harrison (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa), and Aramini swimming a 1:33.56.

Sophomore Ben Heyman (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) won the one-meter dive with 215 points.

Oneonta next hosts Delhi on Tue. Nov. 11 at 4 p.m.
