Oneonta Faces Cortland In Dual Meet Action

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's swimming & diving team faced Cortland in dual meet action on Friday afternoon. Oneonta fell 135-77 to Cortland.

Oneonta opened with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. Seniors Joseph Campise (Queens, NY/St. Francis Prep), Maddox Aramini (Cooperstown, NY/Cherry Valley-Springfield), and juniors Nicky Byrd (Purchase, NY/Harrison) and Brendan Heaney (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks Central) were third at 3:57.38.

Freshman Bastian Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) placed third in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 12:06.16. In the 200-yard freestyle, Heaney took third at 1:56.57.

Sophomore Cosmo Martinelli (Albany, NY/Albany) touched third in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.23, while senior Ross Caimano (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) was fourth at 23.40.

Senior James Llewellyn (Great River, NY/East Islip) won the 200-yard IM at 2:01.19. Junior Calvin Hitzschke (Mexico, NY/Mexico Academy & Central School) finished fifth at 2:13.23. He continued with a fourth-place performance in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:16.32.

Caimano took third in the 100-yard freestyle at 51.23.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Llewellyn was second at 2:08.07, while Byrd placed fourth with a 2:16.92. Freshman Russell Cheng (Westchester, NY/Ardsley) grabbed third in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:30.48.

Oneonta went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Heaney winning at 2:28.96. Dudley was second with a 2:35.22, and senior Jack Humphrey (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) swam 2:36.43 for third.

Oneonta's 400-yard freestyle relay placed first. Caimano, Hitzschke, Llewellyn, and Martinelli swam a 3:20.63.
