ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Sophomore 
Emma Schwarzbeck (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill Senior High School) knocked down a three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime, however the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team fell short in the extra period, 79-75, to Brockport Saturday afternoon. Senior 
Molly Stephens (LaGrange, NY/Arlington) finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Schwarzbeck went 5-for-10 from deep and dropped a career-high 19 points with six rebounds and four assists. The Red Dragons moved to 9-12 overall, 7-7 in SUNYAC, and the Golden Eagles improved to 11-11 and 7-8 in conference play.
Schwarzbeck started the game off with a three before senior 
Jenna Harclerode (Sayville, NY/Sayville) made a jumper for an early five-point lead. Brockport trailed until Zoe Zutes scored a three-pointer and a layup to put them ahead 10-9 at 3:19. Junior 
Molly Coyne (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) regained the lead for Oneonta on the next possession, then Schwarzbeck and Stephens hit a couple shots to put the Red Dragons up, 15-12, after one.
Schwarzbeck sinked another trey at the start of the second, but the Golden Eagles went ahead, 19-18, after Mandy Brink made a three herself at 7:38. After junior 
Sophia Wakin (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) and Zairea Hannah traded free throws, Oneonta closed out the half with a 13-2 run. Stephens made the first two baskets during the stretch, then found junior 
Amanda Zuntag (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) for an underhand left that rolled around the rim and in. Harclerode had her foot on the arc for a long two-pointer, Zuntag scored down low, and Schwarzbeck ended the run, and the half, with a deep three-pointer to give the Red Dragons a 33-23 lead.
Brockport started the third quarter with an 11-3 stretch to cut the lead to two, 34-36, at 6:57. Stephens extended Oneonta's lead with a shot from the corner and a triple, then freshman 
Megan Desrats (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) passed it to Wakin for a turnaround jumper and a 46-37 lead at 3:12. The Golden Eagles started to close the gap, but Coyne hit an eight-foot jumper and the Red Dragons went into the fourth up 48-42.
Junior 
Nadia Brown (Troy, NY/Troy) extended the lead to 10 with a pair at the line and a shot from the wing at 6:02, however Brockport went on an 11-0 run to gain a 60-59 lead with 1:02 left in regulation. Brown traded baskets with Hali Lucia before Zutes made two at the line to give the Golden Eagles a 64-61 edge with six seconds left. Brown took the inbound pass under the basket and got it to Stephens who found Schwarzbeck at the top of the arc for the game-tying three-pointer, forcing overtime.
Overtime was a back-and-forth battle that consisted of five lead changes and five ties, while Stephanie Jean-Baptiste powered Brockport's offense and scored her team's first 11 points of the period. Tied at 73, Zuntag made a jumper from the corner, but Jean-Babtiste knotted the game again at 75 with a shot in the paint at 1:33. After the Golden Eagles took the lead with a pair of free throws from Anna Lee with 10 seconds left, the Red Dragons missed the game-tying shot on the ensuing possession and Lucia iced the game with two shots at the line.
Zuntag finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Harclerode collected nine rebounds and Desrats dished out five assists.
Zutes led the Golden Eagles with 23 points and five rebounds. Jean-Baptiste had 18 points and nine rebounds, and Hannah ended with 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Brockport shot 39.3 percent from the field and had a 44-43 rebounding advantage, while Oneonta shot 34.9 percent from the floor.
The Red Dragons next game is Tuesday, February 6, at Fredonia at 2:00 pm.
