Amber Tickle Joins Oneonta as Assistant Athletic Trainer

ONEONTA, N.Y. - SUNY Oneonta Athletic Director Ryan Hooper announced the hiring of Amber Tickle as an assistant athletic trainer for the Red Dragons starting this summer. Tickle joins Oneonta following a year as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at East Stroudsburg University.

"We are very excited to have Amber join our Sports Medicine staff as our new Assistant Athletic Trainer," said Hooper. "She will play an essential role in the daily care of our student-athletes. Her personality and professionalism will continue to enhance a vital part of our Athletic Department. We are fortunate to have her with us, and I look forward to the impact that she will have on our student-athletes. We welcome her to the Red Dragon family."

At East Stroudsburg, Tickle was the certified athletic trainer for the NCAA Division II men's soccer and women's lacrosse teams while working toward her Master of Science in Athletic Training Advanced Clinical Practice. She created a hip mobility program for the men's soccer team and collaborated with the strength and conditioning department for injury prevention and rehabilitation programs. Additionally, Tickle oversaw four athletic training students and ensured a high standard of care for all student-athletes.

"Oneonta Sports medicine is excited to welcome Amber to our growing team. Amber's ambition and unwavering desire to provide high quality healthcare services is exactly what we want here at SUNY Oneonta," stated head athletic trainer Brandon Makres. "Her fit with our program is unequivocal and we are lucky to have someone of her caliber as we continue to elevate our sports medicine services."

Tickle is a 2022 graduate of SUNY Cortland, where she worked with the softball, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's ice hockey teams to provide care at practices in games.

Tickle has her Athletic Training Board of Certification and is a National Athletic Training Association Member.

Tickle graduated from Cortland with a bachelor's degree in athletic training and is expected to graduate from East Stroudsburg in August 2023.
