Hall of Fame Spotlight: Men's 2009 4x400 Relay Foursome

| By:
The relay foursome of Eric Theiss '09, Fred Romer '10, Sean Daly '11 and Joe Reed '09. distinguished themselves as the first National Champions in the sport of track & field.  At the 2009 NCAA Indoor Championship hosted by Rose Hulman Institute in Terre Haute, IN, the quartet ran a time of 3:17.19 in the 4x400-meter event more than one second faster than the second-place squad from Carroll College.  The foursome entered the meet with the fastest time in the country and left no doubt who was the best in the nation.  They still hold the indoor program record of 3:16.65 set in 2008 at Boston University.

The National Championship was the crowning victory for the foursome during the 2008-09 indoor season.  Previous to the NCAA meet, they had won both the SUNYAC and ECAC Div. III crowns.  Additionally, the 14 team points placed them in 11th place in the team competition, still the highest to date for the men's program indoors.
