Oneonta Competes Against RPI and Saint Rose

TROY, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's and women's swimming & diving teams traveled for dual meet action against RPI and Saint Rose on Sunday afternoon. The Red Dragon women fell 132-94 to Saint Rose and 161-65 to RPI, and the men lost 141-82 to Saint Rose and fell 166.5-47.5 to RPI.

The meet opened with the 400-medley relay, with the Oneonta women placing fifth at 4:34.57. The men also took fifth by swimming a 3:52.77. Senior Claire Armstrong took sixth in the 1000-freestyle at 12:37.04, and junior Jonathan Stanzione (East Islip, NY/East Islip) earned fourth for the men at 11:13.24. Sophomore David Butler (Port Kent, NY/Ausable Valley Central) grabbed a fifth-place finish at 12:24.86. 

In the 200-freestyle, junior Lena Nakken swam a 2:12.09 to take sixth overall. Freshman Colin Ringwood () led the men's team by touching at 1:57.80 to take seventh. 

The Oneonta men had two finishers in the top five of the 50-freestyle. Junior Mason DeLisio (Kingston, NY/Kingston) placed third at 21.83, and junior Ross Caimano (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) was fourth at 22.74.

Moving into the diving events, sophomore Macayla Hodkinson scored 161.55 points in the one-meter dive to finish fourth overall. Hodkinson continued with a second-place finish in the three-meter dive with 174.60 points. Junior Paige Splendido was third with 152.10 points.

The Oneonta women went on to take third and fourth in the 200-butterfly, with junior Anna McCall placing third at 2:37.08. Armstrong was fourth at 2:42.89. Moving on to 100-freestyle, Nakken placed fifth at 1:00.14. Sophomore Allison LaBarbera was close behind at 1:00.38 for sixth overall.

DeLisio tied for fourth in the men's 100-freestyle at 48.49. 

Sophomore Jessica Shaw earned fourth in the 200-backstroke with a 2:30.43.

Senior Sophia Olson had the highest finish of the day with a second-place performance in the 500-freestyle at 5:48.38. Freshman Ashley Brousseau was third at 6:09.86, and sophomore Alyssa Thompson touched fourth at 6:18.76.

In the 200-backstroke, Stephenson was third with a time of 2:49.97. The women's 400-freestyle relay of Stinson, Alaska Lilliock, LaBarbera, and Olson took third at 4:04.98. The men's relay placed second overall. Caimano, Eli Cohen (Schoharie, NY/East Lake (Fla)), Daniel Oh (Huntington, NY/Harborfields), and DeLisio swam a 3:20.30. 

Oneonta returns next weekend for a dual meet at Hartwick on Sat. Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.
