ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team dropped their non-conference game to Skidmore, 63-32, Tuesday evening. Senior 
Jenna Harclerode (Sayville, NY/Sayville) had the team-high seven points and five rebounds as the Red Dragons moved to 1-1 on the season and the Thoroughbreds improved to 3-0. In the contest, freshmen 
Megan Desrats (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley), 
Carlie Young (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville Central), and 
Angelena Giuliano (Troy, NY/Catholic Central/Troy) all recorded their first career basket as a Red Dragon. Desrats drilled a three-pointer while Young and Giuliano got their points from the free throw line.
Skidmore scored the game's first six points before Harclerode passed inside to junior 
Amanda Zuntag (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) for a layup at 7:02. Oneonta got to within two with a couple baskets in the paint from Zuntag and junior 
Nadia Brown (Troy, NY/Troy) halfway through the quarter, but the Thoroughbreds began to pull away and went into the second quarter ahead, 15-8.  
Sarah Chambers hit a three-pointer on the first possession of the second to put the Thoroughbreds up 10. Harclerode made the Red Dragons first basket of the period at 7:34 before Desrats and Brown drained one from deep later in the quarter, yet Skidmore continued to hold a double-digit lead. Sophomore 
Lidia Boucher (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central High School) drove in for a layup at 4:44 to bring the deficit back to single digits, however Skidmore closed out the half with a couple jump shots for a 31-18 advantage at halftime.  
The Thoroughbreds' momentum continued in the second half with a 22-5 third quarter to extend their lead 53-23. Junior 
Sophia Wakin (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) and Harclerode both scored in the paint during the period, while Young split a pair at the line.
Desrats converted two at the line before Harclerode knocked down a triple and a jumper to chip the lead down to 53-30 with six minutes to play. Skidmore answered back and brought their lead up to 32 in the final minute. Junior 
Molly Coyne (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) and Giuliano went 1-for-2 at the line for Oneonta's final points.
Both Brown and Desrats recorded five points, Desrats also had four rebounds and a steal, and Boucher finished with three steals.
Amelia Medolla led Skidmore with the game-high 19 points and added three assists. Maddie Hastings had 10 rebounds and Julia Blanck finished with nine rebounds and five blocks.  
The Thoroughbreds shot 46.4 percent from the field and held a 48-28 rebounding margin.  
Oneonta returns to action on Friday when they host the Oneonta & Hartwick Classic. The Red Dragons will face Hamilton in Dewar Arena around 7:30, following the Hartwick and Mount Saint Mary College contest that starts at 5:30.Â
