Red Dragons Defeat Lakers in Home Opener

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's swimming & diving team defeated visiting Oswego 106-72 on Saturday afternoon's home opener. Overall, the Red Dragons had seven first-place performances. 

The day opened with the 200-medley relay, where the Oneonta group of juniors Ross Caimano (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Jon Stanzione and freshmen Colin Ringwood () and Cosmo Martinelli (Albany, NY/Albany) swam a 1:47.35 to place second overall. 

Junior Mason DeLisio (Kingston, NY/Kingston)n won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.76, while freshman Andrew Capella (Glenville, NY/Burnt-Hills-Ballston Lake) was third at 1:56.51. The Red Dragons took first and second in the 50-freestyle, with Caimano winning at 23.02. Senior Eli Cohen (Schoharie, NY/East Lake (Fla)) took second at 23.42.

In the 100-IM, junior James Llewellyn (Great River, NY/East Islip) swam a 58.03 to place second overall, while senior Daniel Oh (Huntington, NY/Harborfields) was third at 1:00.22.

Cohen went on to take first in the 100-butterfly, swimming a time of 57.21. DeLisio grabbed a first-place finish in the 100-freestyle with a time of 48.99. Oh placed second at 51.41. 

Oneonta tallied a first-place finish in the 100-backstroke, with Llewellyn touching at 56.39. Junior Joseph Campise (Queens, NY/St. Francis Prep) finished third at 1:02.24. Capella won the 500-freestyle at 5:14.29. Stanzione went on to take second in the 100-breaststroke at 1:05.69. 

The 200-freestyle relay wrapped up the day, with DeLisio, Cohen, Oh, and Llewellyn winning with a time of 1:29.31

Oneonta nexts competes at Brockport on Sat. Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.
