ONEONTA, N.Y. – Under the new leadership of first-year head coach Mara Primmer, the SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team begins the 2022 campaign on Thur. Sept. 1 with a road game against RPI at 7 p.m.

The Red Dragons then play at Alfred State on Sat. Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. before the home-opening Mayor's Cup weekend from Sept. 10-11. Oneonta opens SUNYAC play at home against Buffalo State at 1 p.m. on Sept. 24.

Oneonta features an even mix of experience with eight seniors, nine juniors, six sophomores, and five first-years. Senior forward Emma Kirkpatrick (Wading River, NY/Shoreham Wading River)  is the Red Dragons' top returning scorer with five points on two goals and an assist from last season. Junior midfielder Leighann Perciballi (Northport, NY/Kings Park) recorded four points (one goal, two assists) in 2021.

On the back line, the Red Dragons return seniors Robin Confer (Chenango Forks, NY/Chenango Forks)  and Natalie Sancilio (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) and sophomores Shannon Lowney (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) and Kayla Schwizer (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook), who appeared in all 15 games last season. Lowney and Schwizer each netted one goal in 2021. Fifth-year goalkeeper Claire Lepper (Poland, NY/Poland) returns and played and started 14 games last season. Lepper recorded two shutouts with a .718 save percentage.

The newcomers include goalkeepers Olivia Forbes (Conesus, NY/Livonia) and Bryanna Meehan (Roxbury, NY/Roxbury Central), forwards Kaiden Ring (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) and Lauren Goyette (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), and midfielders Michaela Gordon (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) and Tara Nicholson (Bayside, NY/Archbishop Molloy).

Last season, the Red Dragons posted a 3-11-1 overall record while going 2-6-1 in the SUNYAC. After a slow start, Oneonta finished out the season going 3-2 in its last five games.
