TROY, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's swimming and diving team split at RPI on Sunday afternoon. The Red Dragons defeated Saint Rose 138-66 but fell 56-174 to RPI.Â
Oneonta opened with a second-place finish (3:45.92) in the 400-yard medley relay comprised of junior
Kyle Copper (Canandaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman) andÂ
Eli Cohen (Schoharie, NY/East Lake (Fla)) and sophomores
James Llewellyn (Great River, NY/East Islip) and
Ross Caimano (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury). In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Llewellyn took fifth with an 11:24.59. Copper continued a strong weekend by swimming a season-best 1:50.72 in the 200-yard freestyle to place second overall. Cohen finished with a personal record of 22.91 in the 50-yard freestyle to place third, and sophomore
Mason DeLisio (Kingston, NY/Kingston) was fourth at 22.94.Â
Copper earned another second-place finish after touching at 2:01.28 in the 200-yard butterfly. DeLisio took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.69, while Caimano was fourth at 51.83.Â
Llewellyn went third in the 200-yard backstroke after swimming a 2:11.64, and Oneonta was fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:26.77.Â
Colin Davis (Chester, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) went second in both diving events. He scored 228.15 in the one-meter and 244.85 in the three-meter.Â
Oneonta returns next weekend for a dual meet against Hartwick on Sat. Nov. 12 at 1 p.m.
