Despite holding Oswego scoreless for more than five minutes in the final quarter, the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team was upended by the Lakers 49-46. The loss for the Red Dragons drops them to 10-8 overall and 7-4 in the SUNYAC.

The Inside Story
The two teams combined for only 13 points in the fourth quarter and shot a combined 4-for-29 after shooting nearly 40 percent through the first three quarters.

Oswego (4-12, 1-9 SUNYAC) held its largest lead of the game at 49-42 with 3:47 remaining in the contest. Oneonta closed the gap and forced a turnover with 17 seconds left to go. Out of a timeout, sophomore
Molly Stephens (LaGrange/Arlington) had a look from behind the arc but missed. Junior
Meg Nardelli (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham) grabbed the offensive rebound and got another three-point shot off but missed as well. Oneonta earned a team rebound and, on the ensuing inbounds, Nardelli had one last attempt to tie the game but couldn't connect as time expired.

Trailing by two points entering the third quarter, the Red Dragons battled and grabbed a 35-34 lead on a basket by junior
Olivia Dobrovosky (Skaneateles/Skaneateles). The Lakers regained the lead on their next possession and closed out the quarter on a 9-4 run to earn a 43-39 advantage heading to the fourth quarter.

The opening half was a back-and-forth affair with four ties and eight lead changes. The last lead change was for Oswego on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Danielle Caivana. The Lakers buried seven from behind the arc in the first half including six in the second quarter to grab a 29-27 advantage heading to the lockerroom.

The Red Dragons trailed 11-9 coming out of the first quarter before running off eight unanswered to grab its largest lead of the first half at 17-11. Freshman
Nadia Brown (Troy/Troy) scored a pair of baskets to lead the way.

Just the Stats
Oneonta had another big night on the glass outrebounding Oswego 51-36. For the second straight game, the Red Dragons topped 20 offensive rebounds collecting 21. The offensive boards led to 12 points leading to a total of 24 points in the paint.

Dobrovosky led all scorers in the game with 17 points. Freshman
Amanda Zuntag (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy) contributed 10 points. Both players reached double digits in rebounding with 10 boards each.

Oneonta will travel to face rival Cortland tomorrow afternoon beginning at 2pm.
