The Inside Story
Senior
Alyssa Bluethgen (Commack/Commack) had another strong outing in the opening game of the day against SUNYAC foe Brockport. She had a no-hitter going entering the bottom of the sixth where the Golden Eagles scored the lone run of the game with a pair of hits. A one-out walk was followed by Brockport's first hit of the game, which allowed the runner on first to get to third base. The next batter singled up the middle to drive in the runner from third.
Â
Oneonta collected six hits in the game including two each by juniors
Caroline Koch (New City/Clarkstown South) and
Amanda Sexton (Port Jervis/Port Jervis).
Â
In the season finale, Oneonta spotted Keene State a run before scoring two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. Junior
Meaghan Raleigh (Endwell/Maine Endwell) hit a one-out infield single and went to second base on a wild pitch. She came around to score on a single to center field by junior
Amber Badillo (Mohegan Lake/Shrub Oak). Sophomore
Megan Palmatier (Bainbridge/Bainbridge-Guilford) pinch-ran for Badillo and went to second on a ground out before scoring on a single by junior
Kaitlyn Loffman (Smithtown/Smithtown West).
Â
In the fifth, Corbett was hit by a pitch and then scored when Koch doubled to left center field. The next batter was Raleigh who singled through the left side to knock in Koch.
Â
Junior
Hunter VanArnum (Schuylerville/Schuylerville) threw six innings of one-hit ball striking out two to pick up her third win of the season. Bluethgen struck out a pair pitching a scoreless seventh inning to pick up a save in her final collegiate appearance.
Â
Raleigh collected three hits to lead the offense while Loffman added a pair of hits. Both Raleigh and Loffman along with Koch and Badillo drove in single runs.
