The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team went cold for two quarters and ended up falling at home today to SUNY Geneseo 67-48. The loss for the Red Dragons drops them to 7-12 overall and 4-8 in the SUNYAC.

The Inside Story
After falling behind early 7-2, Oneonta bounced back with six straight points to grab its first lead of the game at 8-7. A few minutes later, Oneonta held its last lead of 10-9, as Geneseo (17-4, 10-4 SUNYAC) closed the quarter with a 7-2 spurt to grab a 16-12 advantage at the end of one quarter.

The Knights seized control of the game in the middle two quarters posting back-to-back 19-point quarters while holding the Red Dragons to 12 points. Geneseo made 15-of-33 shots in the two quarters including 5-of-13 from behind the arc.

Oneonta regrouped a bit in the final quarter as many of the reserves got an opportunity to see some action. Sophomore
Brittany Claud (West Babylon/West Babylon) ignited Oneonta in the fourth quarter scoring eight points that included a pair of treys.

Geneseo finished the game shooting just under 48 percent while scoring 24 points off turnovers. Oneonta's bench finished the game with 29 points led by senior
Leanne Corso's (Commack/Commack) 11 points. Claud and junior
Maya Bernsley (Monroe/Monroe Woodbury) each finished with eight points. Senior
Casey Hayes (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka) scored 10 points.

Geneseo had three players in double figures led by junior Lindsay Halpin who scored a game high 19 points.

Oneonta will face its rival SUNY Cortland on Tuesday night at home beginning at 5:30pm.
