The SUNY Oneonta wrestling team defeated Gettysburg College 38-9 Thursday afternoon in non-league action.

The Red Dragons took an 6-0 lead right out of the gate as
Michael Savello (Kings Park/Kings Park) won by forfeit in the 125-pound bout.
Andrew DeSousa (Smithtown/Smithtown West) extended the Oneonta lead to 12-0 when he pinned Gettysburg's Jake Stein in 1:49.
Ahken Chu (Patterson/Carmel) won a 10-1 major decision over Sean Thompson to make the score 16-0. In the 149-pound bout,
Tyler Brazinski (Johnson City/Johnson City) earned a 11-3 major decision over Eric Mougalian, upping the Oneonta lead to 20-0. Gettysburg would climb back into the match with wins in the 157 and 165-pound weight classes, cutting the deficit to 20-9.

Matthew Shields (Mount Temper/Onteora) won a hard fought 5-2 decision to extend the Red Dragons lead to 23-9.
Jacob Mansman (Tuscon, AZ/Ironwood Ridge) followed with a 10-4 decision over Brendan Loder in the 184-pound bout. Freshman
Jhordyn Innocent (Spring Valley/Ramapo) and senior Jonathan Solaorzano closed out the match with back-to-back pins. Innocent beat his opponent in 3:45 while Solorzano took down Paul Pelham in 1:38.
What's Next
The Red Dragons return to action on Saturday, January 11
th when they travel to Ursinus College for the North-South Duals at 9:00am.
